A quick and easy dessert

Chocolate-dipped Cookies

A while back, I had some friends over, and I didn’t have the time to concoct any elaborate dessert (or even an easy dessert that takes time, like cupcakes). So while I was at the store, I picked up a bag of sugar cookies and figured those would be just fine set out in a little bowl. Sweet snack done!

Of course, the day of the friends coming to visit, I felt bad that I was just going to throw out some sugar cookies from a bag, no matter how nice of a bowl I sat them in. I remembered I had some chocolate chips left over from some failed magic cookie bars, and an idea struck! I could dip the sugar cookies into melted chocolate, and it would seem a bit more special!

I cheat on tempering the chocolate, which is what makes this so easy. I had about 6 ounces of milk chocolate chips left, so I dumped those into a glass bowl and added a bit of vegetable oil (around 2 teaspoons). Into the microwave it went for 30 seconds. I pulled it out, stirred, and back into the microwave for 30 seconds. At this point, since I had such a small amount of chocolate, it was all melted and ready for dipping. If you do a larger quantity, just keep zapping it, 30 seconds at a time, until melted.

I dipped the cookies, laid them on wax paper, and left them to dry. I would suggest laying the wax paper on a cookie sheet that can go into the refrigerator so they harden quicker.

And there you have it. Dressed up cookies!
